Our third Tuesday Talk was on June 23rd with Jerrell L. Henderson. Jerrell is a Chicago-based director, puppeteer, and an Assistant Professor of Performance Studies at Chicago State University, who hails from the Philadelphia region. Jerrell brought his impressive vision to Inis Nua's recent production of Untitled and we were so excited to talk with him about his approach to directing, tackling the unique challenges of Untitled, his many years teaching theatre, and the differences (or similarities) between Philly and Chicago theatre.
This event was originally planned in early May prior to the current protests in support of black lives. Jerrell says "this event was a prime opportunity to continue to raise awareness and share some of the struggle, as well as the joy, of what it means to be a working Black artist today."
