Director's Notes 

Mark O’Rowe is one of the reasons I founded Inis Nua. His work is shocking, unsettling and disturbing—it showcases humanity at its extremes. His early work created a world of a seedy, slightly fantastical Dublin. He is a master of tension in telling a story. O’Rowe’s language is precise and piercing, something he takes from the playwrights that inspired him: Beckett, Pinter, Mamet and Bond. Inis Nua produced O’Rowe’s Made in China in 2009, which was a violent play about Dublin gangsters obsessed with Kung Fu films. Our Few and Evil Days is O’Rowe’s kitchen sink drama. It originally premiered at Ireland’s national theatre, the Abbey Theatre, in 2014. It’s not violent in the same way as O’Rowe’s earlier work like Made in China, but it is just as brilliant and tension-filled. Mark O’Rowe is one of the most prominent Irish playwrights today, and Inis Nua is proud to present the American premiere of this important work. —Tom Reing
